Extreme re-gifting

I am considering two very risky regifting moves this year. The first is giving something the origin of which I don’t recall. What if I give it back to the person who gave it to me? The second is re-gifting something in the same week I received it. Somehow I always thought it was right to let the thing sit around a bit before sending it on. Both these things make me feel like I’m living on the edge. Wheee!

  1. You’re a risk taker, that’s what I like about you.

  2. Immediate regifting is preferable. The gift remains fresh and you never have to worry about the first predicament described above. On that matter, I usually give things I’d like to have anyway. If you gift it back to the person who gave it to you, chances are they’ll like it. If they take it the wrong way and refuse to speak with you ever again, well, one less gift you have to get next year.

Of course, this approach may decrease the sense of risk, and I don’t want to dull the edge.

    Love you.
